Art Center

About

Sky Soup Art Center was started to provide young artists more time and a space to create.

Sky Soup Art Center in Bala Cynwyd offers child-centered art education that is creative, enriching, nurturing and fun! The studio is a place where kids can communicate visually in different media, including drawing, painting, animation, printmaking, sculpture and textile dyeing.

Kids aged 6-12 and their grown-ups can choose from after-school programs throughout the year, art camps over spring break and summer break, Saturday workshops, and art parties for birthday celebrations. Heather also offers sensory exploration classes for 2 and 3 year olds and their grown up on weekday mornings.

The mission of the studio is to use art to help kids learn that problems have more than one solution. Through the art projects they undertake kids begin to understand that there are many ways to see and interpret the world. And by developing their vision and working through the materials, they develop good judgment rather than knowledge about rules. These themes help kids joyfully develop their visual voice as they find the unanticipated possibilities of their expression as their work develops.
