Handbuilding for Adults
Explore clay at Sky Soup and unleash your inner ceramic artist out! Learn clay basics such as pinch pots, slab forms, and coil pots. Experiment with 3D forms and surface pattern design as you open your mind to the wonderful world of clay! A weekly project will be provided, or you can come with your own ideas. Open to all experience levels, the possibilities are endless!

Tweens will use textiles, fibers, and paper to create three-dimensional pieces like baskets.

Ceramics for Tweens, Summer Camp, Afternoon, Week 5
This Ceramics Week is specifically for tweens. We will meet in the afternoon from 1:00-4:00. We will learn the different hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab rolling to create functional pieces and quickly progress to more complicated pieces. We will glaze the pieces that we make.

Printmaking for TWEENS, Summer Camp, Week 1
Printmaking for Tweens Join us for a week-long afternoon session of printmaking. We will print with Gelli plates, use found objects to make prints, print with gauze, silkscreen a t-shirt, and much more. Artists will have a portfolio of framable pieces to take home at the end of the week.

Drawing Workshop for Adults
Drawing Workshop -whether you are new to drawing or a lifelong illustrator and sketcher, Alison will move your skills forward. For those who wish, she will share the foundations of drawing while looking for where to start. This class focuses on various techniques and materials to explore the basics of drawing. While delving into different drawing styles, tools, and paper types, each student will acquire a sturdy foundational experience to keep growing.

Spend a Thursday evening with Alison and other adults in our new Sketchbook Mixed Media Workshop. Mixed Media Sketchbook focuses on variety and accessibility as a tool to explore creative ideas. Each student will work exclusively within sketchbooks to explore materials casually and flexibly. Following a series of prompts and projects, this course is designed to help each person eliminate creative obstacles. Touching on mediums like gouache, collage, printmaking, charcoal, and more, this class aims to test what we use and how we make.
2D Color Exploration for Tweens
We will create 2-dimensional art by focusing on color relationships using a variety of mediums: painting, printing, oil pastels, charcoal, watercolors, acrylic paint, and mixed media. We will also make observational and imaginative drawings. This class is an extension of our winter class; we will do new projects.
We will not meet on March 28th.

Artists Workshop-Evening Adult Class
Want to gain and grow art skills with a knowledgeable art teacher guiding your exploration? Here is a fun evening class for those with the urge to pick up pencils and brushes or other art media. Learn hands-on techniques and art theory while becoming more skillful in expressing yourself. The world is stressful, so join us as we tap into the creative side of our brains. Brushes, paint, drawing, collage, and printmaking supplies will be available for your use, or you can bring your own.
This eight-week class is taught by Barbara Yalof.

Silk Scarf Dyeing with colorful dyes and shibori, a resist dyeing technique from Japan. Begin to explore the infinite techniques to clamp, tie, bind, fold, stitch and compress fabric to create a resist then dye with. This wearable art makes a beautiful present for someone special. Use colorful dyes and shibori to create a one of a kind scarf. Class is $40 and includes 2 silk scarves. Additional scarves can be purchased for $5.00 each.

Using washi paper, dye and shibori folding we will create beautiful and unique gift wrapping papers. Learn shibori folding techniques to get stunning and colorful results. We will use rubber stamps to create gift tags. Take home what you make just in time for holiday gift wrapping.

Join us in this textile class and explore with shibori and indigo. Shibori is a resist dyeing technique from Japan, and indigo, a natural dye extracted from plants with a distinct blue color. Begin to create with the infinite techniques to clamp, tie, bind, fold, stitch and compress fabric to create a resist then dye with indigo. Make two wearable scarves using these techniques after practicing with fabric scraps. Class is $40 and includes 2 silk scarves and all of the practice scraps needed to grasp the folding techniques. Additional scarves may be purchased for $5.00 each.
Please wear something that you won’t mind getting splattered with blue dye.
Play with the deep indigo color and learn Japanese Shibori folds to create patterns on silk. This class includes two silk scarves and all of the practice cotton scraps needed to grasp the folding techniques.
