Cats Camp, Week 6 SOLD OUT

We are expanding our Cats Camp by collaborating with The Children’s Poetry Theater here in Narberth. During the morning session, at Sky Soup, we will make numerous cat-themed art projects. We will use clay to sculpt cats, make a cat-faced pillow, draw and paint cats, and make cat masks and props for the children to use when stepping onto the stage during the afternoon at the Children’s Poetry Theater. The afternoon session is optional and open to children who wish to participate.

We enjoy a read-aloud at the end of the camp morning, and Andy Warhol and his famous cats are among our literature selections.

Galaxy Camp blends art and science. When you picture outer space—planets, stars, constellations, rockets—you might also imagine aliens and UFOs. Let your imagination soar.

We will make Galaxy jars, rocket ships, moon rocks and a felted solar system with roving.

We enjoy a read-aloud at the end of the camp morning. We will read Moon Man, by Tomi Ungerer, among other favorites.

HOUSE DESIGN! We begin the week by reading a literary favorite, The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater.

Each artist will be given a large wooden house to design and all materials to implement their design. Your artist will first imagine what kind of house it will be….a haunted house, a house for the luckiest pet ever, a castle house, a survival…, whatever you can think of. We will spend the week designing rooms, painting, making wallpaper, furniture, and more. This project is for boys and girls alike.

Costume and Clothing Design: Spend a week in our joyful, creative environment. Students transform ideas into clothing and accessories for an artist’s figure. We’ll convert wooden mannequins by designing and assembling outfits and accessories. Open-ended projects let each child follow their interests: couture, fantasy, everyday style, or caped crusaders. Some campers add a Marvel-style twist and invent their own superhero or shero. Join the creative fun and create whatever makes you happy! If interested, students will explore hand stitching.

Cloud and Rainbow Camp, Week 5

Cloud and Rainbow Camp. This week, we are collaborating with The Children’s Poetry Theater here in Narberth to expand the day and our creativity into writing and performing, if your child wishes.

During the morning camp, we will create all things CLOUDS with a few rainbows, too: not gloomy clouds, but painted clouds, fluffy cloud slime, draw cloud scenes, cloud pillows, and cloud props for the children to use when stepping onto the stage at the Children’s Poetry Theater with poetry clouds.

The afternoon session is optional and open to children who wish to participate.

We enjoy a read-aloud at the end of the camp morning. We will read about the Cloud People in James and the Giant Peach.

Creatures That Fly. Our focus will be on butterflies, birds, and bats for any bat lovers. We will transform our drawings into 3D winged creatures using papier-mâché, sculpt the lifecycle of a butterfly with clay, fire it, and then paint beautiful winged creatures. Artists will make large butterfly wings from cardboard, a signature Sky Soup project, and fly around Narberth.

Printmaking for Tweens Join us for a week-long afternoon session of printmaking. We will print with Gelli plates, use found objects to make prints, print with gauze, silkscreen a t-shirt, and much more. Artists will have a portfolio of framable pieces to take home at the end of the week.

Unicorns, Mermaids, and Dragons Camp - Week 1 SOLD OUT

Unicorns, Mermaids, and Dragons Camp includes all the fantasy creatures we love to create, tell stories, and read about….unicorns, mermaids, and dragons. We will make a unicorn horn to wear, a mermaid pillow, a papier-mache dragon, dragon eggs, and more if time permits. Imaginary play will be big this week. We will dance across the stage, put on plays, and bring out the puppet theater. Ages 4-12: Bring your creativity and imagination.

Costume and Clothing Design, Morning Session, Week 10

Clothing and Costume Design This camp week should be called Fashion Design because that’s what it turns into…making clothing and accessories for the artist’s figure. Other kiddos put a Marvel spin on things and create their superhero. If that’s your child, we will turn the wooden mannequins into superheroes or sheroes, design, and assemble outfits for your artist’s figure, claim a superpower, and more. Come in and create whatever makes you happy!

House Design Week 6, Morning SOLD OUT

I am super excited about this camp week…HOUSE DESIGN! We begin the week by reading a literary favorite, The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater.

Each artist will be given a large wooden house to design and all of the materials to implement their design. Your artist will first imagine what kind of house it will be….a haunted house, a house for the luckiest pet ever, a castle house, survival…whatever you can think of. We will spend the week designing rooms, painting, making wallpaper, making furniture, and more. This project is for boys and girls alike.

Ages 4-12. Heather Exley teaches this camp.
